Location EXT. THE LONG ROAD

A large highway that lay on the outskirts of the city adjacent to the Gates. We see a short and tall figure walking along toward a large mountain in the distance. Kay jumps down from a truck and lands on his hands revealing his watch (60:00). He looks up to see Ely a few cars ahead of him peering around. ”Luckyyyy! Luckyy!” ”It’s the fourth time he’s ran off Ely. He’ll come back.” Ely looks over at Kay before turning and calling out Lucky’s name again. ”Luckkky! Where are you?” She stops to observe a large open area. The camera pans a short distance to reveal Lucky skipping around in the mud nearby. After not moving too far he eventually comes across what looks like a very large muddy barefootprint and stops briefly to inspect it. The two continue to walk along the highway for a short while. Kay leading this time with Ely following close behind. A faint sound of metal banging and scraping begins in the distance ahead of them. Ely is oblivious to the sound as Kay slows his pace to focus clearer. He turns to hush Ely’s walking with the motion of his hand. ”Do u hear that?” The two completely stop moving as Ely looks up and into the direction ahead of them trying to listen for anything. The sound is now much more distinct. The two of them appear interested yet concerned and confused. Suddenly there is the shriek of a young boy followed by whimpering. Kay immediately starts running toward the direction. Ely calls out to him with concern. ”Wait!” Kay turns back while running and motions for Ely to follow. ”Come on!” Kay runs around a corner to see a teenage girl struggling to lift up a garage door that has a young boy lodged beneath it. The boy is lying on his stomach with his legs exposed outwards. Kay stands frozen and shocked by the sight of other kids. The girl turns her head to see him. “Well don’t just stare, give me a hand will ya.” ****Kay arrives at the garage door and quickly bends down to grip the heavy bottom. After an effort of struggling and heaving the boy finally squeezes through the opening and into the building. Kay and the girl let go of the door as it comes crashing down. Kay falls to the ground from the heavy recoil of the door. The girl walks over in front of him and offers her hand out. He takes it as she helps lift him to his feet. The two of them make strong eye contact face to face. The girl smiles. ”Thanks.” Ely finally arrives at the garage. The girl turns to the garage door and bangs on it twice with her fist. ”Richy!” The boy is heard grunting inside. ”Yea hang on. I’m looking.” ”Right side near the wall. Remember the other ones. It should be on the right side, near, the wall.” ”Yea! I know that. I can’t seeing anything. It’s dark as shit.” ”Use the lighter I gave you.” ”Wait wait. Oh yea.” The sound of a lighter being flickered from inside the garage is heard. The girl rolls her eyes. ”Phff, moron.” She looks at Ely then Kay and extends her arm out. ”Hey. I’m Angee by the way.” Kay is still slowly taking in this new very surprising encounter. He smiles. ”Oh ha, I’m Kay. And this is Ely.” Kay pats his hand on Ely’s shoulde before shaking Angee’s hand. Angee acknowledges Kay’s watch. ”That’s a cool watch you got there Kay.” The crank of a lever is heard from inside the garage. ”Found it!” The garage door flies open revealing the young boy in the light of the sun. A mischievous grin across his face. He flicks a silver lighter upwards closing its lid. Angee walks over to the boy and brushes her hand through his hair vigorously. ”This is Richy.” He gets annoyed by the action. ”Hey!” enthusiastically Kay smiles at the boy as he steps into the garage out of the rain, Ely follows behind him. Angee makes her way past Richy toward a large object in the middle of the garage. A cover lays over it that she tugs off in a heap. ”And this. Is our ticket the fuck outta here!” Under the cover reveals an unscathed car. Lucky bounces around the corner. ”Luckyyy!” excited He jumps up into Elys arms as she embraces the small animal. Richy begins to look disgusted and takes a step back from her. ”Ew what the hell is that?” Ely looks over at him annoyed and turns her body away from him. A brief moment of silence goes by before the car can be heard as Angee attempts to start it up. ”Come ooonnn. Come on you mother fucker.” She kicks down onto the peddle and yanks the keys into the ignition once more. The car begins to start up before a big boom erupts from the engine. She slumps down in the car seat. ”Shit! Ugh. I really thought this was gonna work.” Kay becomes curious. ”What are you trying to do?” Angee looks up at him confused he would ask such question. ”Leave. Git from the city. What does it look like nolly?” Angee gets out of the driver seat and walks closely over to Kay. She looks into his eyes trying to read him. ”Well hang on a minute. You’re no runner are you? The hell are you doing on the surface?” Kay looks at Ely in a short pause before answering. ”We were living with our dad, when, the Angels... Found us.” Angee scoffs to herself. She talks with a tone of disgust. ”Hmf. Paley kids. You’re both lucky to be alive.” She pushes on Kay’s chest moving him to the side and begins to walk. ”Wait you ran away? I didn’t think that was possible. The Angels-” ”People run away all the time kiddo. We’re not from your part of town, we’re from the Anyth.” She then spins around and looks at Kay up close again. ”Try not to believe everything the Heavens say. Boy o boy. Typical brainwashed Paley kids. Richy!” Richy quickly catches up with her as she begins walking away again. After a brief moment, Angee spins around and looks over at Kay and Ely. ”Are ya gonna join us or what?” She turns back around and continues walking. Kay and Ely exchange a peculiar look as Lucky makes a cute animal sound.
