The Heavens: An Overview

Originally known as the ‘Hartez,’ the Heavens are a distinct group that eventually left the world to take residence in orbit. They adopted the name 'Heavens' as a comical irony in defiance of the religions they opposed. Their emblem is an Orange Wilted Poppy. Members of the Oligarch are saluted by placing a right-hand fist over the heart, lifting the chin, and uttering the phrase “Judges of Being.” Although the Heavens are not visible from the Gates City, their silhouette can occasionally be seen passing across the moon if one looks carefully.

The Heavens constructed their orbiting vessel for a crucial reason: to evade the Tokens. Token power is bound by specific limitations—Tokens can only travel through time while remaining in a fixed location. Since the Heavens constantly orbit the planet, if a token inside the Heavens attempted to transport, it would shift through time but stay in the same spatial position. As a result, the token would find itself outside the vessel, drifting in space—a fatal scenario. Additionally, token power is gravity-locked, requiring a stationary land position to function, making it ineffective within the constantly moving Heavens.

The clothing worn by Heaven inhabitants, particularly the armor of angels in Archeston, possesses advanced technology. It draws in surrounding air and filters it into pure oxygen, feeding it consistently into the wearer's airway. This ensures perfect oxygenation at Archeston’s vast altitudes and theoretically allows for uninterrupted speech without needing to pause for breath. Heaven attire is often a chaotic mix of loose, twisted cables and wires, flopping around the outer layers of their clothing.

Through advanced technology and continuous organ replacements, the elite leaders of the Heavens have greatly extended their lifespans. While traditional reproduction is seen as obsolete, replaced by the creation of 'gene babies,' there remains an aesthetic and emotional reverence for intimacy and the female form. This admiration is embodied by the 'Heaven Canvasses'—humanoid females with flawless, neutral faces and figures, designed as the pinnacle of human biology. They display extreme emotions, from ecstasy to agony, yet interaction with them is strictly forbidden.

Gene babies—artificially engineered children—are created to further the Heavens' goal of producing a biologically advanced human race, making natural reproduction unnecessary and prohibited. Children born through natural means are cast out and sent to work in Archeston, where they are known as “The Disowned.”

Despite their rigid rule, the Heavens are not opposed to protest or questioning. They allow verbal dissent from their unsophisticated citizens of Archeston, knowing that their grip on power is so firm that any action against them is futile. As they see it, they let their "dogs bark."

The Terra-war: A Historical Perspective

Roughly 1,500 years ago, the globe witnessed a massive conflict as coalitions united under N.O.A. (Nations of Anyon) to resist the oppressive rule of the Hartez. In desperation, the Hartez deployed a devastating biological weapon. Instead of wiping out all life, it annihilated vegetation and non-human organisms, leaving only humans alive. This event gave birth to what is now known as the REDD ZONE.

In response, survivors established the Anyth—a refuge high above the planet, beyond the weapon’s reach—where they cultivated a limited amount of vegetation, referred to as ‘Green.’ After their victory, the Hartez rebranded themselves as the Heavens, retreating to their new orbital city above the Anyth. Their interests now lie solely in their own kind, showing little concern for the devastated world below.
