‘Judges of Being (Short Film)’ - Production Outline

The feature film could start by mirroring the events of the short film with partial changes.

The Gatekeepers run past Rogue, soaking his shoes; his reaction is unphased and uncaring.

Rogue's demeanor and dialogue could reflect a more partial belief in the Heaven's law.

Consider not showing the thief’s face until we see him in the moon for a dramatic reveal.

Action sequence: When the male partner is leaning over the edge about to fall, he sees his gun in his jacket, pulls it out, and fires at the thief. This sequence should emphasize quick, decisive action.

In the final scene, Rogue hesitates and looks at the Gatekeepers, sees Jorsse, who nods. The Husband, thinking of attacking Rogue, steps forward, and Rogue, startled, shoots him in the neck, causing him to fall to the ground, gargling and bleeding out. The Wife kneels by her dying husband. Rogue points his gun at her but hesitates again. Lock steps forward to help finish the job, but Poppet halts him with a hand gesture. Suddenly, Jorsse steps in and kills the Wife instead, creating unresolved tension and questioning Rogue’s future actions.

Also in the final scene as rogue is holding the gun toward the husband and wife, the ribbon he was looking out before falls out of his pocket he put it in and it begins to blow away to his right, he cant grab for it as he is holding his gun with both hands but watches as it tumbles toward the courtyards edge. As it nears the edge we see it clearly for a moment as see that it is a child’s ribbon with the name “Dawcey” written on it’s lining. It then blows off the edge into the wind. Right here is also the moment the Male Partner lunges forward to attack.

In a new attack sequence it would be cooler for him to actually struggle with Rogue for a moment, grabbing his arm and the gun and pushing it downward or upward causing the weapon to fire. During this struggle the Ravens and Poppet do not move but simple watch Rogue and the Male partner as they struggle for the gun. Eventually Rogue gets a hold of the weapon better and pulls the trigger sending the bullet into the Male’s throat.

Since Rogue partially carries out the punishment delegated to him by Poppet, the likelihood of repercussions is diminished, unlike the ambiguous ending of the short film.
