Late at night, a recently dismissed structural supervisor meets the younger apprentice who has accepted her former position. The mentor believes the promotion proves her apprentice has become obedient to the same authority that removed her. The apprentice believes she simply followed the survival lessons the mentor spent years teaching her.
Halwen sees Lio's promotion as a personal betrayal and proof that the system rewards obedience. Lio sees it as the direct result of Halwen teaching her to remain useful, adapt and survive. Neither woman is completely wrong. The scene is about whether survival becomes betrayal when it requires taking the place of someone you respect.
HALWEN: “Let me educate you. They gave you my post because you still say yes.”
LIO: “You taught me to.”
HALWEN: “I taught you to survive.”
LIO: “Then why did you expect me to say no?”

Late at night inside a disused supervisor canteen built into the exposed outer wall of the lower Gates. The room is long, mostly empty and constructed from stained reinforced concrete, corroded steel and thick structural ribs. Only one narrow metal table and two fixed stools remain near a vast open wall.
Beyond the open wall is an immense vertical city void. Colossal habitation slabs, suspended bridges and structural supports descend through deep blue-green haze toward the ruined planetary surface far below. High above, a pale moon is partially crossed by the black geometric silhouette of distant orbital structures belonging to the Heavens. These elements provide overwhelming scale but remain slow, silent background imagery rather than a narrative event.
