- In the industrial depths of the Metradome, every citizen begins each day locked inside their assigned quarters. Before the doors open and the work shift begins, they must complete a mandatory sixty-second verification proving they have not been replaced by an artificial duplicate.
Government broadcasts insist the test protects humanity from infiltrators. Anyone who fails is quietly removed.
- character lying on their back looking up and cealing and dancinf with arms to music, camera is birds eye looking directly down at character
- The best stories end with the core characters understanding one another / feeling the same, even if they remain on opposing sides?
Story development from PMF chat
Transferred 5 October 2026 from Project 'PMF' (Metradome Idea). These are development ideas, not a locked screenplay. The existing Bazilk / early S2 placement and visual notes above are retained.
Creative brief
- Reach the widest possible YouTube short-film audience while remaining within Grimdark. The premise should work without prior knowledge of factions or lore.
- Keep the character in assigned quarters, undergoing a daily verification ritual. Citizens believe the anti-infiltrator propaganda is real.
- Preserve AI anxiety, game-like rules, a countdown, identity horror, one contained location, a moral reversal and ambiguity that invites discussion.
Proposed outline
- Daily ritual: A factory worker wakes in the industrial depths of the Metradome. His door seals and a familiar announcement introduces verification. The screen activates and the sixty-second test begins.
- Simple rules: Personal questions, emotional responses to images and increasingly strange instructions. Citizens are told never to hesitate, lie or question the test.
- Unexpected failure: Despite correct answers, his humanity score falls. The system calls his emotions rehearsed, his memories artificial and his behaviour predictable.
- Identity horror: Inconsistencies in childhood memories make him doubt whether he is human or has implanted memories.
- The other citizen: A neighbour undergoing verification begs through the wall for help proving she exists. Communication during verification is forbidden.
- The choice: Ignoring her offers the best chance of survival. Helping her means disobedience and unpredictable behaviour, risking failure.
- Moral reversal: He helps; his score reaches zero. The test is not identifying artificial replacements. It identifies people capable of empathy, irrational loyalty and disobedience: the humans the Metradome considers dangerous.
- Ambiguous ending: The screen reads HUMANITY CONFIRMED. THREAT IDENTIFIED. His door opens onto a dark corridor; the neighbour's stays closed. The work-shift announcement proceeds normally. Execution, recruitment or passing the only genuine test of humanity remain possible interpretations.
Earlier variant, not the latest outline
The initial concept used the message YOU HAVE ALREADY FAILED THIS TEST, followed by sixty seconds to present memories, scars and emotional evidence before armed figures entered the apartment. The later Metradome outline adds the neighbour and makes helping her the decisive action. Retain the earlier warning as an optional opening device, not a separate mandatory event.
