The Lion’s Den - DAY 1 - 4PM

Throughout the first season, Atom is seen in his nicely renovated home, taking care of his elderly grandfather while trying to work. His grandfather, frail and demanding after a lifetime spent on his feet, now expects everything to be done for him. Despite the large size of their house, it's just the two of them living there, often clashing as they move through the space, leading to frequent arguments. Atom clearly resents his grandfather for the burdens he places on him, but he continues to fulfill his duties nonetheless.

3_CADENCE - DAY 4 - 8PM

After yet another argument with his grandfather, Atom ventures out to try the memory technology he learned about at one of the founders' meetings. He heads into Anyth City, seeking the chance to revisit his past. He requests to see 40 years back and prepares himself for the experience.

As the memory sequence begins, Atom flashes through time, eventually stopping at the age of ten. He finds himself standing in front of his childhood home, slightly older and less renovated than he remembers. He walks through the familiar rooms, noticing how open and spacious the house appears, with fewer walls and unfinished rooms. As he reaches the back of the house, he finds his grandfather—around 50 years old—punching away at a punching bag. It's the first time we see the grandfather standing, full of energy and vitality.

The grandfather finishes his workout, glancing over with a smile as he notices Atom. As he removes his gloves, he speaks warmly, “Oh, hey kiddo, my workout’s almost done. I’ll be finished soon.” He moves over to a table, setting down his gloves and taking a sip from a water bottle. Atom hesitates before speaking, "Hey... Grandpa, can I talk to you for a moment?" The grandfather walks closer, glancing at his watch. “Uh, yeah, sure, Atom. What's up? I’ve got about two minutes.”

Tears begin to well up in Atom’s eyes as he observes the stark contrast between the vibrant man his grandfather used to be and the frail one he knows now. He stutters, struggling to find the right words. "I just want you to know that I love you, and I miss you, and I wish you could be young and happy again." Overwhelmed, Atom breaks down, unable to say more. Seeing this, his grandfather steps closer, crouching down to comfort him. “Hey, Atom, it’s alright. Don’t cry. Gosh, I’m not that old, am I?” he chuckles softly. “I love you too, buddy. Come here.” He pulls Atom into a hug, patting him on the back to soothe him.

Later, in a more grounded scene, Atom is preparing dinner for himself and his grandfather. After another one of their tense arguments, he sits at the table, noticing his grandfather's usual anxious, weary expression. As they settle in, Atom takes his seat with a plate of food. The grandfather gestures toward his own plate across the table, requesting it. Atom picks it up but pauses before placing it in front of his grandfather. He looks into his eyes and quietly says, “I don’t blame you.” His grandfather, taken aback, asks, “What?” Atom repeats, “I don’t blame you,” then gently sets the plate down. They eat in silence, a moment of understanding passing between them. It’s an emotional scene, signifying Atom’s new perspective and understanding of his grandfather’s struggles.

Soon after, there’s a jump cut to a funeral service. Atom stands amidst the entire Brailen family, marking the passing of his grandfather.
