one of teh opening scenes to season 2 is at the gate’s keep. a few keepers are interrogating this female captive criminal trying to get information out of her but she wont givee it up. she is then thrown into their holding cell in the keep. momeents lateer another girl (lace) is also thrown into the same cell. lace is older now since it has been a 10 yeear time jump. lace and teh other female prison at some point begin small talk. lace seem antagonistic to the keepers and ruthless, much alike the other girl so they get along. eventually they start talking about eachotheer’s experiences and then lace meentions that they’ll never get the information out of her eitheeeer, ever. and that she’ll take it to her grave and never teell them. she then quietly and privateely sharess her criminal secret with the girl, could be something like “killing her sister or dad or whatever”. and so eventually then the other girl also shares her crime and and secret. lace then smiles and saying something like “you got that?” out loud to a keeper hiding around a corner. and it is revealed taht lace was workign with the keepers to geet her confession. and that actually not only is lace a keeper herself but the standing keeper. she has successfully criminally recorded and can now prosecure her properly. this is all meant to show theee audience many things including how the keepers aree now not as corrupted as they were before under lace’s leeadeership. and that she believees in proper and real methods to prosecute these criminalss beyond the older methods that roguee and warner used to always do likee calling in the heavens everytime they need to gain information. lace is a keeeper of the future and this sets in a new direction for the keepers and who character going into s2.

after these events and lace is the only one left alive this is the beginning of her lonely arc — i think it is very rare in cinema and television to see examples of women characters being lonely so we must attempt to do it for this — lace at this point has literally lost everyone, cadence, fateus, all the gatekeepers, the anyth, she is completely alone
